Re: Newbie alert - Using MT32 with a DAW

it's context-sensitive so if you set the channel of a track to 2, selecting that track causes all of your keyboard's input messages to be rewritten so that they're output on channel 2 several DAW are working this way I suppose, I have this behavior with the Muse-sequencer (linux only), and Cubase o...

mt32-pi

Hello, I just wanted to present this awesome project, which is a "hardware" version of the Munt mt32 emulator, running on baremetal raspberry pi: https://github.com/dwhinham/mt32-pi this way you can have a synth running as a standalone equipement, without needing a full computer (and also ...

Re: Newbie alert - Using MT32 with a DAW

There is a very important parameter to take into account about the MT32: midi channel 1 is not used ! And it's often the one used by default on many synth or DAW. So first try to set channel 2 on the DAW (or the keyboard), and output a sound from there. And I'd also recommend to connect midi out fro...

Re: Vale, Jan Paul Moorhead

I didn't really know well the Betrayal at Krondor's music, I've searched for it and it's indeed very nice. Jan was a great composer...

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file

I've tried the Voyetra DOS seq, but it's a bit complicated for me   I've downloaded the manual, but I think it's better I stick with Cakewalk, it works perfectly for what I need to do. I've made a page for explaning the whole process of creating sounds on the MT-32: http://garvalf.online...

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file

I'll have a look at Voyetra Sequencer, it's available on your website. I'm not used to DOS sequencers, but it looks powerful...

It seems some people can do amazing things with it!

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file

it's always interesting to learn how people are using their DAW and tools ;) For Munt, the midi player is working well. If you're interested to participate (if you compose music), there is a MT-32 competition on Battle of the Bits (among other things, such as Tracker music): http://battleofthebits.o...

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file

Hello Lucas, thank you very much for your detailed informations: it worked! 8-) I'm a bit disappointed because I didn't manage to make it work with my Linux DAWs: on Rosegarden, I can read your MT32+midi files and they replay as expected in Munt. Yet, when I try to insert a sysex, only 256 bytes (I ...
