Re: Some discoveries about the CM-32L panning
It turns out that despite intending for there to be 15 positions, the LA32 chip only recognises 3-byte (8 numerical) positions. My theories from before don't apply, since the hardware doesn't actually work as it purports to in the manuals. So there is only 4 Left and 4 Right positions, with what I'm...

Re: Some discoveries about the CM-32L panning
Thanks man! I'm excited. Mostly to record Larry 5 with the correct SFX and panning. I tested the panning on MUNT and it was different yet again than I expected... There were only 4 Left and 3 Right positions in both MT-32 and CM-32L (of course, going to test with hardware!). The CM-32L is panned mor...

Re: Some discoveries about the CM-32L panning
Yeah, it means CM devices aren't suitable for MT-32 gaming or even playback (without pan modifications). Quite a game-changer. I didn't announce it on VOGONS cause it seemed like it might be unpopular.. Haven't investigated variants. I own a gen 1 MT-32 so that will be interesting to check. And of c...

Larry 1 VGA - Mack the Knife
Fun fact which I posted about on the FB group. Basically, after reviewing some of Al Lowe's internal documents, I noticed and then confirmed that the Honeymoon Suite (and "All Tied Up!") from LSL1VGA are both based on "Mack the Knife", the classic 60s song. https://www.youtube.co...

Some discoveries about the CM-32L panning
Hey folks, I recently looked into something NewRisingSun had told me years back about the CM-32L and MT-32 panning differing. I looked into it more, and using his knowledge plus information in the manuals, I came up with the following. I haven't done actual listening tests to 100% confirm all of thi...

New Leisure Suit Larry 5 soundtracks coming
Hey folks, I'm not announcing this publically yet, but I thought it might be fun to do so here, since I was feeling a QuestStudios vibe with this project. Basically, I've been working on creating a studio with high quality realistic sounds, but I also have a JV-50 keyboard (SC with an expanded JV-10...

Re: Some recent YouTube streams of Sierra composers
Thanks for saying that, DrJ. A few watched but didn't get much feedback, so it's nice to hear some.

Re: Some recent YouTube streams of Sierra composers
Mike wanted to be a part of this event, but I think he was at a jazz festival. He'll be on another. I've since one one this year with Dynamix composers and some other Dynamix employees, that one will be hopefully coming this month after my exams. Second Sierra/Dynamix one maybe in July or so, let's ...

Re: King's Quest IV Finale MIDI
Thanks, that's a useful reply actually. I don't think anyone had ever explained the reason for the KQ4 clipping (assuming it's the same reason it occurs on a MT-32 as well). Unless I'm confused.

Some recent YouTube streams of Sierra composers
Hey folks, I've been too busy to mention it, but I arranged an online meetup of many of the Sierra composers a couple weeks ago, and today there was a listening party for Robert Holmes' new album "Sequel". Both were co-hosted by me with the Space Quest Historian Troels, who also recorded t...
