Re: Roland SC8820 vs. Soundcanvas VA Plugin
I've long ago decided that real hardware is a safer bet for longevity, and combining that with the reality that Roland's hardware is the basis and standard for their SC-VA software, I doubt I'd ever consider differences in the SC-VA as improving on the hardware. If all normalize does is amplify them...

Re: SC-8850 information
I've found 2 of my SC8850 optimized Midis from Codename: Iceman! On the old Sierra Website it was hosted here, but now its deleted! I can not add midi files here directly, it is zipped! Enjoy! :) I think there's one there I hadn't heard, thanks! In case you didn't notice, previously in this thread,...

Re: SC-8850 information
By the way, I just posted my Doom & Doom 2 SC-8850 remixes on the main site. A zip of the MIDI files is also included. I used a lot of SysEx for the 8850's MFX and other effects. Check it out! http://www.midimusicadventures.com/2017/02/doom-revisited/ Sorry to bring this up so late, but do you ...

Andrew, I just noticed you have already resurrected that page (at http://www.midimusicadventures.com/ques ... utilities/). If you'd like, I'd be happy to have you host the pdf there.

Creating an aplaymidi (and compatibles) >16 channel midi file
My objective was to create standard MIDI format files that play with greater than 16 channels in devices that support it. First, I should say that I've considered writing a feature request for Rosegarden, but the more I think about it, the more I realize it may just create problems for the majority ...

Re: The Dr. T Editor/Librarian Manual
For the longest time, I was curious just what was in Dr. T's MT-32 Editor/Librarian, mostly because of what Tom wrote about it on his queststudios MT-32 Resource Center Utilities page: My favorite DOS-based MT-32 editor! This program is no longer available from the publisher, Lilly Freelance Softwar...

Re: SC-8850 information
After mirroring archive.org's snapshot of queststudios.com, I noticed many goodies, one of which applies to Roland's ED devices. Enjoy Tom's hard work converting MT-32 soundtracks to MIDI format for Roland ED modules: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2uObE ... sp=sharing

Re: Anyone know how to search the old QS forum?
Since I believe the queststudios forum system, SMF, used to use google to perform searches (which archive.org doesn't seem to interface properly with), I've had to think a bit outside of the box to come up with a working solution, but here goes: In GNU/Linux there are various tools for finding files...
