Re: AGI, MT-32, and the Apple IIgs

Didn't there use to be an AGI-to-MIDI DOS program, that let you play the old AGI games using a Roland MT-32 or other MIDI card/module?
I have a vague memory of playing Space Quest 2 using that program...

Re: King's Quest IV Finale MIDI

Well, it seems our friend Xeen has noticed my post, and uploaded his own "fixed" version of the KQIV Finale to YouTube, including the timpani and volume changes I incorporated to my edit. I don't know if I should be flattered, or mad for not getting any credit for the find... :) https://ww...

Re: Betrayal at Krondor Discussion panel on Twitch March 27

Looks interesting!
It's one of my favorite Sierra/Dynamix games, and has an amazing soundtrack by recently deceased Jan Paul Moorhead.

Re: King's Quest IV Finale MIDI

I did become friends with William Goldstein on Facebook recently, interestingly enough. Not sure if you guys saw, but he released an "official" version of the score, although it misses a lot of tracks, I think (I don't know this score very well). Cool! I was not aware of that at all! I ju...

Re: King's Quest IV Finale MIDI

Yeah, I noticed those "Note Off" messages, but had no idea it was something Anvil Studio did and wasn't there originally, and basically disregarded those events altogether (Have I mentioned I miss using CakeWalk3? ;) ). I have no idea what's the purpose of those events, or why anyone or an...

Re: King's Quest IV Finale MIDI

Yep, that's what I encountered in the midi file and subsequently fixed (though I'm not sure the values I gave those controllers were exactly as were intended).
I used Anvil Studio, btw. It's not as easy for me to use as old CakeWalk3, but it get's the job done quite nicely.

You're quite welcome! :)

Re: King's Quest IV Finale MIDI

Thanks, Jaffaman, Honestly, I know next to nothing about Sysex messages (other than sending or deleting it). I was under the impression that all the kq4.syx file did was mute channels 1 and 11-16 on the file, since early versions of Sierra soundtracks included other versions (Casio maybe?) of the mu...

King's Quest IV Finale MIDI

Hi all, One of the known issues with the MT-32 is its' clipping problem with some MIDI files. Notably, the KQ4 Finale, in which the last 30 seconds or so feature massive usage of horn instruments which clip horribly. While Tom's digital recording of the original MT-32 version of the theme managed to...
