Re: New lossless FLAC recordings of MIDI soundtracks
For this new Lossless FLAC recordings project, in order to succeed, I'll need a volunteer with a Sound Canvas (as I only have an MT-32). But before that, we need a common agreement on which soundtracks we think were intended for which synthesizers. I have an SC-55mkII, and a custom MIDI device that...

Re: New lossless FLAC recordings of MIDI soundtracks
Anyone experienced with editing MIDI files who can either fix some things for me or teach me how to address it myself? The easiest way for me to record soundtracks is to play the "Complete Soundtrack" versions. These sometimes have pieces included that Tom didn't provide separately. Howev...

Re: Connecting a MIDI Synthesizer to a Windows 10 computer
Thanks Martin! That was quite an enjoyable read for someone with similar windows sensibilities. I should write up something similar to what I did to get Line-In live monitoring working on GNU/Linux (using a pulse audio sink, if memory serves). MIDI mapping, thankfully, is still the same on GNU/Linux...

Re: Quest Studios MIDI files
That's a great idea, thanks Marten! I started using queststudios after Tom had removed his LucasFilm Games stuff, so that's exciting to me. Like you, I've saved everything I noticed at the time.

Re: SpaceVenture enters beta
I noticed it too late, to back it on kickstarter, but did notice their site in 2015, and chipped in with their "stretch goals" option to Pre-Order Spaceventure for GNU/Linux. I've still been feeling like it never would see a release, and am quite happy you pointed this out! Thanks Marten!

Re: Identifying the Piano and Victrola themes in Colonel's Bequest
Player Piano 4 Player Piano 5 These two, I think I can identify as: Player Piano 4 - Bethena, by Scott Joplin, 1905 Player Piano 5 - A Breeze From Alabama, by Scott Joplin, 1902 These and more can be found (well, right now it doesn't seem to be working, so the link is to archive.org) at www.mutopia...

Re: Roland CM-64 tricks
Thanks a lot Lucas! :) I will get back to you in the coming months, coming to the end of my college semester here. I wasn't wanting to hear incompatibilities, more the higher reverb, and the potential for sound to be different, IIRC. As for SysEx, as time has gone on, I acquired a tool to extract t...

Re: MT-32 category on BotB
Hello, for the MT-32 fans out there, I've tried to tag every MT-32 tune I've found on Battle of the Bits, there are some gems there... Here is the complete list: http://battleofthebits.org/arena/Tag/MT-32/ Some songs I've enjoyed: - http://battleofthebits.org/arena/Entry/Journey+of+a+Falling+Star/3...

Re: Roland CM-64 tricks
Thanks Lucas for all your hard work. :) Is there any chance of you doing RWI recordings for some of the other scores, like COTL, Willy, Larry 3 and QFG2? I would really appreciate that. BTW: "At least this soundtrack sets the MASTER VOLUME at 80, and not 100 like many others." That is pro...

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file
I've tried the Voyetra DOS seq, but it's a bit complicated for me   I've downloaded the manual, but I think it's better I stick with Cakewalk, it works perfectly for what I need to do. I've made a page for explaning the whole process of creating sounds on the MT-32: http://garvalf.onlin...
