Re: Roland CM-64 tricks

Thanks Lucas for all your hard work. :) Is there any chance of you doing RWI recordings for some of the other scores, like COTL, Willy, Larry 3 and QFG2? I would really appreciate that. BTW: "At least this soundtrack sets the MASTER VOLUME at 80, and not 100 like many others." That is pro...

Re: MIDI rips of Konami's 1993 Sharp X68000 game, "Akumajō Dracula" for Roland MT-32/CM-32L/CM-64

I've found that playing back certain songs from this pack will freeze up my MT-100. Not sure why. I have to reset it before it will play again. Creatures in the depth and thrashard in the cave are the biggest culprits. The notes appear to get backed up and trigger all at once sporadically and then ...

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file

it's always interesting to learn how people are using their DAW and tools ;) For Munt, the midi player is working well. If you're interested to participate (if you compose music), there is a MT-32 competition on Battle of the Bits (among other things, such as Tracker music): http://battleofthebits....

Re: Qmidiroute patched for some GS use

Because my edit yesterday didn't trigger an updated date, I'm posting here for anyone else who has experienced the qmidiroute crashes I have. I think that latest patch solves them. It's much more stable for me anyway.

I hope it helps,

Luke

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file

Hello Lucas, thank you very much for your detailed informations: it worked! 8-) I'm a bit disappointed because I didn't manage to make it work with my Linux DAWs: on Rosegarden, I can read your MT32+midi files and they replay as expected in Munt. Yet, when I try to insert a sysex, only 256 bytes (I...

Re: Creating a mixed sysex + midi .mid file

Hello, I've made a few MT32 tracks in the past, using the default setup. Then I've discovered the MT32 was a bit like the Roland D110 and D50, and you could program most aspects of it. On this page, there are some mixed midi + sysex, and they work great in the Munt MT32 emulator: http://www.midimus...

Re: Roland CM-64 tricks

I've just finished the process of uploading a few more, this time with the aid of that aforementioned Robin Whittle/Real World Interfaces modified MT-32 (old). I attempted to equalize the RWI MT-32's reverb with that of the standard MT-32 (old) using Heart of China's opening music, but ended up unab...

Re: Roland CM-64 tricks

Strike Commander, IMO, is one of those games that utilizes the MT-32's abilities to its fullest, Including an excellent "Dirty Guitar" custom patch. On second thought, it might be one of those "ain't broke - don't fix" cases. Here, have a listen: Strike Commander - Inflight Mix ...

Re: Roland CM-64 tricks

Thanks for the very kind words! I did most of the work on this soundtrack over a decade ago, when I had considerably more time on my hands, so I doubt if I'd be up for the task today. It was, indeed, a daunting task, with a lot of manual tinkering, trying to match the volume, panning, and sometimes...

Re: Physical Quest Studios CDs and digital preservation

It's so good to see some familiar faces come out of the woodwork! And yes, the goal of this mini-project is to provide lossless files. Everything is being encoded in FLAC. Yes it is, not that I was much more than a lurker back then. As for CD preservation, FLAC is my favorite. If the recording I've...
