Ikutaro Kakehashi Died

Post by jaffa225man »

Sad news! I only read his autobiography, "I believe In Music" in the last year or so. Through an interview in the back I learned of Isao Tomita (who died just a couple days after I'd read that) and his wonderful classical adaptations. Without Ikutaro Kakehashi, I think MIDI may never have come about. We would be unaware of the fundamental ideals that enabled widespread compatibility among electronic music devices. I don't know how much he, personally, had to do with the MT-32 and successors, but without his starting Roland, I'm doubtful this site (or queststudios) would ever have been created in similar form. Rest in peace, good sir.
