Very neat! I don't expect it will have all these features for older devices, like our beloved MT-32's, but since this process is going forward so openly (anyone can join the MMA for free as I had, hoping to add aftertouch support to Rosegarden someday), I expect that there's a high chance GNU/Linux users won't be left wanting. I don't imagine the interoperability will exist beyond just falling back to MIDI 1.0 for older devices, as they just won't answer the "universal" SysEx.
